　　In some cities around the world, people are not allowed to use private vehicles on some particular days and only public transports are available. From my point of view, this practice brings more benefits than drawbacks.

　　This approach does lead to some inconvenience for citizens especially for working people. Compared with taking bus or subway, it is more convenient and comfortable to drive one’s own car. With more people taking buses or metros on vehicle-free days, it will add to the burdens of the already overloaded public transport system. The bus terminal may be jam-packed with commuters, which will make people more discontent.

　　Nevertheless, we cannot deny the contribution it brings to pollution reduction and energy saving. As we know, air pollution has become a severe problem, since it is causing irreversible damage to the environment in many countries and the exhaust fume emitted by various kinds of vehicles is one of the culprits of air pollution. 　　When it comes to the issue about city layout, some people may argue that filling a city with tall buildings is an optimal choice while others believe that there should not be so many skyscrapers in a city.

　　On the one hand, a city full of tall buildings may have more development opportunities. It is acknowledged that high-rise buildings mean a higher spatial efficiency because those buildings could accommodate more enterprises. Then, some industrial zones or central business districts may be constructed, contributing to more working opportunities. Thus, a vertical city full of tall buildings actually has huge economic potential.

　　On the other hand, residents may have a stronger sense of community if there are not so many high-rises. When people reside in tall buildings, they do not communicate with neighbors frequently. However, if there were many low-rise buildings, residents would be more likely to meet neighbors in public areas like parks where they could communicate mutually or do exercise together, but not just take an elevator to their floors and live a lonely life. Then, residents may not be so indifferent to others and harmonious communities could be established.
